Hi, my name is Ben Wiese and like many kids at a young age I fell in love with the art form of animation. While I didn’t grow up with cable television and have an all access pass to every kid’s show known to man I still had plenty of animation to keep me entertained. Whether it be PBS Kids, rewatching the one season of Spongebob that I had on DVD over and over, or every single Looney Tunes cartoon that my dad graciously acquired for me at a young age, I had plenty of stuff to keep me entertained. As I got older more and more forms of entertainment had overrun my brain with content. However one form always stood above the rest, and that was of course animation. As cliche as it is to say animation has the ability to do something no other art form can. It can go beyond the human boundaries of film, craft a visual style that trumps the most detailed novel, and dial in an idea greater than any video game. This is why I fell in love with the medium, and everything it has to offer. From motion graphics all the way to feature length films it has always intrigued me beyond a rational understanding. Wanting to learn how so much emotion can be given to a simple drawing, computer model, or a puppet has made me strive to learn as much as I could about my favorite form of art. I fell in love with this art form, and I will always want to create.
